How to win Mega Moolah Jackpot

How to win Mega Moolah

Mega Moolah is a world record-breaking, wide-area progressive jackpot that has been leading the way with millionaire-making wins since 2007. It is themed after the African Savanna, features a 5 reel and 25 pay line slot reel, and a wheel of fortune 4-tiered jackpot. It is a simple, fun, and engaging game that has players across the world crossing their fingers for the chance to land that next big win, all of them asking how to win Mega Moolah jackpot?

The first thing that you need to ensure is that you find a casino that hosts the Mega Moolah jackpot game, without this you’ll be on a losing streak before you even begin. To do this, you need to ensure that the casino you’re thinking of playing at hosts games by Micrograming – the creators of Mega Moolah. If they do, then you need to make sure that the casino operates within your region, and that Mega Moolah is available in your country.

Mega Moolah Payouts

Mega Moolah has a 5 reel, 3 rows, and 25 pay line slot reel. You can place a maximum of 5 coins per pay line, and coin values range between 0.01 to 0.05. This allows for a minimum potential bet of 0.01, and a maximum of 6.25. To land a win in the basic game is simple, you just have to land a pay line of 3 or more matching symbols on one of the pay lines which you’ve chosen to activate – which could be the 10 and picture cards, or one of the African desert animals.

If you land the scatter symbol in any 3 or more places at once, then you’ll enter the free spins round. During the free spins round, you’ll get 15 free spins and a winnings multiplier of x3.

There is no particular way to activate the Jackpot rounds in Mega Moolah, this is completely random – it can happen at any moment. Once you activate this mode, however, you’ll be transferred to the jackpot wheel of fortune. Here you’ll have the chance of winning one of four jackpots:

  • Mini jackpot: prize starts at 10
  • Minor jackpot: prize starts at 100
  • Major jackpot: prize starts at 10,000
  • Mega jackpot: prize starts at 1,000,000

To win, you simply have to land the wheel on the correct segment. Land on a Mini segment and you win a Mini prize of at least 10. Land on the Mega segment, and you’ll win one of the record-breaking, life-changing multi-million jackpots.

There is no shortcut or fast pass to winning. But you can increase your chances of winning by doing two things: play more spins and bet more per spin.

Jackpot Odds

One of the most important things to know about any jackpot is the odds of winning. But, unfortunately, Microgaming does not release these figures for Mega Moolah. This creates an air of mystery around the game, adding an extra frisson of excitement to the bank-breaking wins.

It could also be that they don’t release the odds because they’re not very good, who knows? But what we do know, is that if you divide the average jackpot payout by the contribution amount per bet, then you’ll get a decent idea of your odds per spin. Obviously, this is an estimate which depends upon the variables you choose, but it’s good to know how to work it out if you decide you want to.

Biggest Winners

Given that there are four different types of jackpot – Mini, Minor, Major, Mega – the Mega Moolah pays out quite often. The smaller jackpots can come as regularly as several times in a day, whereas the Mega jackpot can be trigged months apart. It is these Mega jackpots that deliver the world new millionaires, as they produce absolutely astronomical wins! But what are some of the biggest recorded?

Well, in 2019 Mega Moolah paid out a Mega Jackpot 12 times, which is, on average, once a month. In January of that year, one lucky Canadian player made an all-time big win of 20,059,287.27 Canadian dollars, enshrining them in the Mega Moolah hall of fame. Later that year in March, another immensely lucky player – this time-based in the USA – managed to score themselves a colossal win of US$12,945,668 (which is about 17.5 million CA$), again putting them in close proximity to the largest ever win.

Back in October 2015, British player Jon Heywood won himself the Mega Moolah jackpot, along with the Guinness World record for largest ever jackpot win. His autumn win landed him a record-breaking £13,2213,838 – which comes in at CA$27326713.03.

Unfortunately for Jon, he was kicked off the number one spot in September of 2018. That Month a European based player bagged themselves the current world record jackpot. They span the wheels and were awarded €18,910,668, or CA$28,899,796.92.

Jackpot Size

Given that Mega Moolah is a progressive, wide-area jackpot, a portion of every stake is contributed to the jackpot pot. Each stake, of each of the millions of players, contributes a small sum to the total, and by doing this the winning amounts quickly reach the millions.

The exact percentage of each stake that contributes is not something which Microgaming releases, but we know that, as a percentage, the contribution size increases as your stake increases.

Importantly, however, we do know that the average growth in the jackpot pots is about 250k per day. Given the large number of players that enjoy Mega Moolah, we can, therefore, say the percentage of the stake which is contributed is quite small.
